After a challenging hike — complete with a chain to hold onto while traversing a narrow ledge on the side of a near-vertical rock face — the view from the top of Mt Yamnuska is really something. The descent follows a steep ridge of fine scree, and somewhere along the way I noticed I was wearing my worn-out skate shoes with zero grip... Scrambling down on all fours, thinking if I slip that's the end of me, the scree trail slowly zig-zagged its way down the back of the mountain until it reached a shoulder about halfway down. This painting captures the glory of the view from that vantage point — well worth the white knuckles.
