The cold morning air still carries the chill of enormous snowcapped peaks melting slowly into summer. A long way into the hike the trail opens up to a series of shallow lakes fed by snowmelt... the sun rising and shimmering across the water as the day warms. A group of wild geese make their way out of sight as I sit by the lake and paint somewhere in the Rockies near Jasper.
