During a house sit on a property near Evans Head in NSW I would drive along the long driveway and pass the neighbouring palm nursery. Cabbage tree palms were thick in the local scrub on the floodplains and I had little doubt that these were the palms which had been dug out of the bush and replanted into lines on cleared land as nursery stock. Because the rows between the trees were slashed to suppress forest regrowth they made for perfect grazing for the local roo population, which would scatter through the palms whenever I drove past. I tried to capture one of those moments with this piece.
