I hadn't planned a stop at the Grampians but how can you drive past without at least a quick "hello, how have you been since I saw you last." Such is the Grampians: a force that, once experienced, will always hold a place in your heart and draw you back. It was a hot day and I didn't need to be anywhere, so I turned off the highway and hurtled down the dirt track towards the closest waterfall, Beehive Falls.

I had visited the falls maybe twenty years earlier but couldn't remember what they looked like. With a name like that though, they had to be good. They did not disappoint. A thin misty stream of water cascading out of the ochre escarpment high above into a small tannin-stained pool below, the ancient rock holding stories far older than any of us can comprehend. After finding the right perch, this painting emerged.
