Campfire under the cave tree at Gellibrand Hill

Up on the top of Gellibrand Hill in Woodlands Park, close to where I grew up, there was an incredible old cypress tree whose limbs spread out and down to the ground, forming a natural cave. The tree had been struck by lightning and split at the top, which only added to its character. Over the years I climbed it many times to look out across the park, and gathered around campfires beneath its canopy with friends. Sadly the tree was lost when a controlled burn got out of control. This painting is a little ode to that tree.
